Keston Hiura hit a three-run homer and Jedd Gyorko a solo shot for Milwaukee. Pittsburgh starter Derek Holland (1-1) pitched five innings, allowing one run and four hits, with three walks and five strikeouts. Milwaukee's Josh Lindblom (1-1) went four innings, giving up three runs and six hits, with one walk and four strikeouts. Frazier singled in the first and, an out later, scooted home on Moran's double down the line in right for a 1-0 Pirates lead. Milwaukee unsuccessfully challenged Frazier's safe call at home. Qld issues health alert for 40 locations

Queensland businesses have managed to escape the latest round of coronavirus restrictions after authorities issued a health alert for 40 locations across the state. The Sunshine State recorded just two new cases overnight, which the state government said was "encouraging" while cautioning Queensland is not in the clear yet. The new cases are linked to Brisbane's Youth Detention Centre, which now has a total of nine associated cases after a centre worker was diagnosed with the virus on Wednesday. The 77-year-old Ipswich woman had experienced mild symptoms and continued to work while infectious. The nine cases include the woman, four other staff members and four family members, including a child. This prompted health authorities to publish an alert for 40 locations centred mainly around Logan, south of Brisbane, with visitors to the areas urged to get tested if suffering even the mildest symptoms. Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk on Sunday ruled out imposing further

BBC Television could be scrapping the word 'television' from its title in a 'bizarre and ludicrous' rebranding exercise to appeal to a younger audience. Insiders have claimed that BBC Television could see its name change to BBC Screen in an attempt to attract the 18-34 age group, The Sun reported. Bosses are reportedly relaunching to appeal to a younger demographic, who tend to veer towards newer streaming services, including Amazon Prime and Netflix. The 'bizarre and ludicrous' rebranding exercise could cost 'well over £1million', insider sources told The Sun.  The BBC could be relaunching BBC Television as BBC Screen in a 'bizarre and ludicrous' rebranding exercise in a bid to appeal to a younger audience, insider sources said A BBC source said: 'BBC bosses are desperate to appear relevant and cool.  'But the fear is this will alienate people, particularly the older market. Treasury savages 'appalling and incredibly expensive' plans for a £350m Essex HQ to house new body replacing Public Health England

The Treasury has ripped apart an 'appalling and incredibly expensive' plan for a £350million Essex headquarters to house a new body that will replace Public Health England.  Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced last week that new National Institute for Health Protection will replace PHE and that it has already begun work as its replacement body.  The NIHP has a 'single and relentless mission: protecting people from external threats to this country's health like biological weapons, pandemics and infectious diseases of all kinds,' Mr Hancock said.  However, the £350million plans for a headquarters in Essex are being questioned, with sources from within the Treasury calling them 'appalling and incredibly expensive'.          Britain's Secretary of State of Health Matt Hancock arrives in Downing Street, following the outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in May Chain of command: Baroness Harding will report directly to the health secretary after

Trout drives in 3 runs, makes diving catch as Angels top A's

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland Athletics are so accustomed to late-game comebacks they were surprised not to pull one off this time against the last-place Angels. And the A's infield defense has been so steady it was strange to see them commit three errors. Mike Trout drove in three early runs, then made a key catch late as Los Angeles beat the AL-best A's 4-3 on Saturday to snap Oakland's nine-game home winning streak. The three-time MVP made a diving grab on Matt Olson´s sinking liner to center field to start the eighth inning, which had Angels reliever Ty Buttrey clapping his glove in gratitude. Buttrey got six outs for his second save. Anthony Rendon extended his hitting streak to 12 games for the Angels, who snapped a four-game losing streak with their second victory in the last 10. Matt Andriese (1-1) relieved starter Griffin Canning in the fifth and pitched 2 1/3 innings for his first win with the Angels. Los Angeles Angels' Mike Trout swings for a two run double

Offense breaks out as Pirates rip Brewers 12-5

Image
PITTSBURGH - Derek Shelton has made it a point to keep reminding Gregory Polanco of all the little things the Pittsburgh Pirates right fielder is doing right in the batter's box during a season-long slump. Keep at it, the first-year manager stressed to the longest-tenured player on his team. You're on the right track. A track Polanco believes he can actually see after his first multihit game in 15 months propelled the Pirates to a 12-5 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday. Polanco hit his third homer of the year and also doubled as Pittsburgh won back-to-back games for the first time since last September. "It´s been a tough month for me, but you know me, I´m a grinder," Polanco said after raising his batting average from .085 to .120. "I´m going to keep grinding. I´m going to keep working hard. I´m going to keep fighting." While Polanco scuffled, Shelton remained adamant about playing him regularly, confident the sometimes effortless stroke that a
